Nice action shot.
Hi Sridatta,
I really like the "wild eye" and the droplets that form a straight line in the mouth. It is always a nice accomplishment to see the fish in mid-air.
In a perfect world the fish would be pointing our way and the sun would have been more to your left to get rid of the shadowed area on the neck.
The whites look good.
Your tech are a bit weird but the image turned out fine. In hindsight you could have raised the ISO, lowered your SS to 1/3200 or 1/2500 and raised the aperture to 7.1. With these closeup portraits ,I think DOF is the most critical issue
Anyway, a log winded critique on a nice shot,
Gail
Wonderful shot, Sridatta. I love the eye of the Egret, focused on his catch, and the way the fish is seeming suspended by the water droplets. Good you could get the fish's eye. Good critique by Gail, but I think you came up with a winner nonetheless.
Very cool action shot. Well done.
Nice action, nice light. I find my attention focusing on the fish and am not sure if this is what you intended. Maybe giving the bird a bit more space will shift the focus of attention to the bird. Whatever the case, it's still a cool capture. Regards, Ian.
Thanks everyone for the comments.
@Gail - you echoed exactly what's in my mind. I too wished the fish had faced the other side, and the lighting had been better. I took this shot while waiting to shoot terns, and I guess I wasn't fully in my senses :(
Excellent image, Sridatta.
I like the eye of Egret and fish suspended in the beak with his shadow chin. Nice composition too.
Regards,
Satish.
I love the shot for the lovely action and exposure of the whites
I like the look of concentraton on the egret's face...The head angle of the bird is really cool, especially in regards to the action that you were able to photograph. The bird looks small shouldered and big headed, which I like and find visually interesting here.
I'm really liking the action here, and the particular perspective we have on it. Nice blue water for the BG. Good comp and light. The fact we see both eyes of the fish saves the angle it is at...
