Late afternoon stretch. Took this image last year in May while watching the two parents feeding about five babies still in the nest. C&C welcome.

A gorgeous shot of the little Gnatcatcher. The translucency of the primaries is spectacularly shown, and the bird is set off nicely against the green BG. Beautiful detail, and surprisingly sharp at 1/400. Nicely exposed and processed. I for one don't mind that the bird isn't quite facing us, given the wing-stretch pose.
Agree with everything Bill said, particularly about the translucency of the outstretched primaries with the outer tail feathers showing under...way cool!...nicely sized perch for this little energetic bird too.
Add my compliments to the above. Lovely pose, complimented by a pretty background and suitable perch. A pleasing frame, thanks for sharing this, Geoffrey.
Sweet shot! Beautiful stretching pose, BG and feather details. Love that curved perch!
The super Green BG sets it up beautifully , great details and the wing stretch makes it special, i love the way the tail can be seen through the wing, the head angle is also decent
very nicely thought of image
great pose and BG color. very Good feather details and Eye Contact .
Thats a lovely shot !
Great the way the tail is showing through the wing primaries.
Grand little fella.

Awesome wing stretch, and I too really like the see-through feathers with the tail feathers showing through. I'm OK too with the head angle as is, but I can just imagine had it been at least parallel to the sensor.
Thanks Everyone.
