Tripod Canon 1DX Canon 500mm f4 L IS & 1.4TC 1, ISO 1250 + 0.6, 1/1600 sec f11
This is the first time I have had a decent look at shelduck juveniles so I was pleased to get the image. Rather a large crop, it was taken at a slight angle to the far side of the pond so I am not too sure if it needs a little clockwise rotation or not.
The sharpening on the water droplets is 50% less than the subject.

A lovely looking duck! IQ looks good for a large crop and great water droplet action going on here.
I am wondering why you were at F11 and ISO 1250.
In hindsight it would have been better to be at f 5.6 to blur out the BG a bit.
I would consider burning the white spots in the bg or evicting them all together.

I like the pose. The image may need rotation.
Gail - sorry my mistake it was 500mm & 2xTC, that is why f11. Previously I hardly ever used the 2x.
Very nice Jonathan. I like the splashes and the 'smile' on the ducks face. I would have sharpened the water droplets more, buts that's what I like to see. Slight rotation as prev mentioned, but overall a very nice image. Well done
It's a very pleasant scene. The action and all the water flying adds alot of visual interest. Sharpness on the subject looks spot on. Exposure wise, the neck of the duck in particular looks a little hot. I enjoy the background. One consideration would be to eliminate the white (flower heads?) in the background, if it fits within your ethcis...only because they are noticeably bright in an otherwise subdued background, so they pull the eye a little...
Nice shot of this cool looking and unique duck. The detail looks great and I like the bathing pose. Yes a more blurred BG would have been better but this look nice as posted. Well done
Thanks very much for the feedback everyone, I will try some at 1/2 stop more, I made it f11 in order to optimize image quality.
