Well it seems inherent, stick a camera up and you will get an owl to perch on it within minutes, as per last years shot which some of you will remember.
So last years brood (three) fully matured and in fact two have bonded, utilising the nice new home I set up for them, a proper conservation owl box where upon I am please to say, as of last Monday they have reared another three new chicks, all doing well too. So this is No1 chick and his/her first solo flight. Still a little unsteady on those legs, but a veracious appetite to say the least!
So the question is and for fun, 'what happened next?'...

Given that you said the chick has a voracious appetite, I actually hope it is not what I think happened next to your lens. :Whoa!: If it did I hope you have good lens cleaner.

Given the position of the owl's rear end in relation to the camera lens...:bg3:
Nice shot, Steve!

And after that, as he took off, I hope that back claw didn't scratch the lens. That hood is pretty shallow on the sides.
I want a tame owl!! I love the pictures you've gotten of this family!

This is hysterical. I hope your lens remained "clean" after this incident.

Sorry folks for the late reply, but I am rammed with shooting at present, my own fault in putting my name to something, so these guys are getting almost 24/7 with the occasional surprise like this morning which I will share at a later date, however...
OK, all kit survived, plus as I never use fitters i.e. UV etc, the lens is open to all elements. The owlet turned 180 degrees, perched on the thin lip of the lens hood and promptly fell into the lens ensuring not the most flattering profile was captured, it's butt!
