Could this be a willet? Where/when was it photographed?
October 2009; Tampa Bay, Florida
Indeed a Willet, in non-breeding plumage.
There are visual clues, but generally at that date it should be a "Western" Willet. All of the "Eastern" Willets should have cleared out at least a month before.
