I made this photo yesterday at Noxubee Refuge. I used Topaz Clarity, Topaz Adjust, and Topaz Simplify, then I removed almost all the color with Exposure 5. I took that layer into Topaz Restyle and came up with this color scheme. Then I put the Exposure 5 layer on top as I lilked the edge treatment and used Luminosity blend mode. It was too light so I used curves to get it back down so it matched the underlying layer. I never thought I would spend that much time on lichen, but I liked the pattern of the lichen on this tree. Unfortunately the edge effect s no longer black but I like it anyway.

Judy, I've always liked tree lichen and I like what you've done here. The color scheme doesn't look much different from the lichen we've got around here but I like it, especially the deep reds.:S3:

I decided to make it a little more interesting by adding a lizard. I thought I did this yesterday but must not have clicked submit or something as it wasn't on there. I tried to match the colors to the image but this was the closest I could get.

I like this a lot Judy, and the surprise addition of the gecko is really neat! The lichens look really cool and the edge effect makes the image look like it is painted on metal, like a lid to a box or something. Did you try using "match color" in PS?

Thanks Kerry. I have never used match color and I tried it now on another image and got no results, nothing happened! I guess I'll have to watch a tutorial or look in my older Ps book and hope that version had it. I had both images in one document, is that wrong?

I have one of those geckos on my barn! I like the way all of the gecko's colors are reflected in the lichen. Cool:S3:

Judy, do you mean layers in PS? You can use layers, images, or selections to match.

These are two completely different images, in my view. They have such different feels to them. The first is soft and has pastel colors. The second, with the bright lizard, has a punch to it and is one that makes me smile. I like them both.
