I captured this image last Wednesday at Ft. Desoto's north lagoon. Low tide and sunrise were close together perfect for the wading birds. The turbulent water and bubble are from a flock of Mergansers that kept swimming by following the small fish.

What a mane, and the matching shaggy neck plumes look great! Nice breeding colours, and I love the bubbling water. Perhaps a touch strong on the contrast, but I kinda like the effect it gave you here. Looks like a bit of CCW rotation could be good. Although you were successful here, I'd look into bumping up the ISO...for bird photography, especially when action is happening, higher shutter speeds are almost always to your advantage.

Cracker image of a stunning bird Joseph! Love the bubbles in the water and the bird's hairstyle.

Nice one Joseph. Agree about a slight CC rotation and the dark ripples grab my eye a little. No big deal though. Still a great shot

Killer image. You had a great light and a terrific subject. The image looks level to me but it's tough to tell in this case. I agree with Daniel about your ISO. While it may not have been an issue here, it will be in the future. Don't know much about the quality of your particular Nikon gear, but I am sure it can handle at least ISO 400 as the bottom ISO for bird photography. This will allow you to bump up your speed or work with smaller apertures when you need it.
