Nice owl, nice pose, Glenn! I love that dreamy expression!
It's as if some sharpness are lacking, specially at the lower half of the bird / wing (it looks kind of 'wax-y')?
First of all, you must have been absolutely over the moon with seeing and photographing a barn owl! For some reason, this particular image isn't grabbing me, and I am not quite sure why. I hope other mods or members will drop by and share their thoughts.
I may be wrong here but I get the impression there is something wrong in the processing. I suspect DOF is minimal but some parts of the bird don't look sharp to me, the facial disc looks detailed in parts but not so in others, the wing looks rather soft????
Lack of sharpness on the wings may be due to excessive noise reduction?
I think the image could use some CC rotation.
Other than than, I think it's a great shot of a beautiful bird.
John
The face and hunched pose are superb. I do wish for better fine details on the wing but I suspect NR could be the culprit as John points out (if that was indeed applied). Although I like it maybe the dullish BG is why Marina finds it not "grabbing"? Either a true all-white high-key or some colour to the BG would have made a better difference?
I have to say I am surprised by the lack of comments on this really nice image.
i really like it- the direct gaze and hunched pose are top notch.
I like the bit of green in the RLC.
I agree something looks a bit off on the lower near wing but I suspect it is an easy fix due to a PP glitch,
Gail
