Perhaps this is a bit too far out of the box . . . . . . I sometimes extract an object from an image, replicate and manipulate it and come up with new designs. Insects and flowers seem to work best, but birds occasionally work well. For this design I extracted a hummingbird feeding at a flower and created the central image. The blue splashes come from a blue scilla. I had it printed on canvas (actual size 24" x 36") and gave it to my son and his girlfriend for their apartment.
This is very nice. It is definitely not too far out of the box. OTB means just that and I don't think we can go too far in this forum. Keep your creativity coming.
