This is a night photo of a glass building, reflecting in a small pool outside. I used Topaz Simplify Painting 5 to soften and simplify it; then I added a layer of PS6 Distort>Glass filter.

Oops---just realized I used the same title as Cheryl's post previously...sorry about that!
I have to admit I had no idea that what I was looking at as lower levels of a building was really the upper levels until I read about the swimming pool. That's a good thing because I was seeing things in a way I might've questioned later on. In addition to being an appealing image, it very much engaged my mind. I think including the pool surround in the front and to the right was a great idea, and the people add a lot to the image.
Almost an optical illusion...not sure at first what's up and what's down! The addition of the people help give an orientation. Great grid lines made most interesting in that they are a bit bowed and further distorted with the glass filter. Nice warm colors with good punches of that orange.
Great image, Wendy. I like the subtle organic colors and the repetition of all the shapes. Glass is one of my favorite filters and you did a good job with it.:S3:
Wendy, I really like this. The glass filter gives it a pseudo painted look. And I like the warm tones and the people give a sense of scale and mood. I wonder about straightening out the lines a bit and looks like it could use just a bit of CW rotation. Easy fixes for a great image!
Thanks, all. Jackie...I agree about the CW rotation, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "straightening out the lines". Can you elaborate?
Wendy, you seem to have a bit of barrel distortion from using a wide angle lens. (The lines are a bit curved outward. If you have Photoshop you can go to Filter>lens correction. They actually have a grid so you can see how close you are to lining up the lines to straight.
Okay...I couldn't remove the distortion completely, but I think it's better...let me know what you think.
I think you did a really good job Wendy.
The pool edge on the right leads one's eye into the image. The people give perspective and orientation. I like the warm color palette and glass filter effect.
I like how the building merges seamlessly into the reflection. I like the repost with lines more straight. The people allow us to figure out where the ground level is. The warm colors are unusual for a building, but work well.
