I had an idea for this image while sitting home one sunday in the fall. The clouds were nice in the sky and I remembered seeing this nice looking leaf on a tree next to my house. I grabbed a leaf and went to the closest pond and placed it on the water. I used a polarizer filter to saturate the colors in the reflection but it also allowed me to see through the water (bottom Left) which I felt grounded the image. I cloned out some particles floating on the water in PS . Hope you like it.

Very Artistic, I would buy this, we Canadians are partial to the maple leaf...the transition between the blue and gray, with the leaf is perfect, just enough of each.....thanks for sharing
With the gray and white and the blue and red, this is a great mix of colors, and the reflection of the clouds and sky is wonderful. The leaf doesn't seem to be in contact with anything else in the image, and I think that works well in keeping the viewer's attention.
Nicely done, the leaf is lovely.
I actually like the bottom 2/3 of the image and don't like the top 1/3.... the sky is too "blobby" if that makes sense, for my taste.
I like the moody-ness of the bottom areas, through the water.
David, this is a great image for the theme. It's nice that you had a preconceived idea and followed through on it so well:S3:.
The leaf looks like it is floating on the sky, or is suspended against the sky. It looks more suspended than floating because it hardly makes a dent in the water. I like the cloudy sky transitioning from dark to light. Perfect for the theme.
It's a very nice idea,and a gorgeous leaf, but I think it would be more powerful if there was a little more indication that the leaf is on a water surface -- it could be mistaken for a cutout. Maybe some debris, or the effects of surface tension being more prominent.
Also, the view through the water is not very apparent to me -- would be nice to see a hint more detail under the water, and more contrast in the lower portion.
Thank you for your posts and ideas. I will have to keep them in mind and try applying some of them this fall.

I like the sharp/soft contrast and the colour contrast, and that leaf does look like it is floating in water. Love the maple leaf too, we are Canadian. eh!:bg3:
