Hey when I save an image for the web in photoshop and then try and open it again the colors are all super vivid. What is the proper workflow to keep the colors?

Make sure when you Save for Web you have checked Convert to sRGB and Embed Profile. And look at your PS Pref's in Edit > Color Settings, and check the box for Profile Mismatches, Ask when Opening.
It sounds like you are having a problem that the saved JPEG is not matching your PS working space, but you are not being told about it. (Why that would be the default is beyond me... but it is.) The right answer is either Convert to Working RBG or Preserve Embedded Profiles. Odd as it may sound, both will preserve the color appearance.
Next question -- do you have a wide-gamut (AdobeRGB) monitor???
I'd give anything if this were all simpler.
Thanks Diane I did not have Embed profile checked.
