Theme: Thankful for the view!

I'm thankful for so many things, and had been wondering what I could capture in a picture. Then one spoke to me -- the view out my kitchen window (although I went outside to shoot it -- the window isn't exactly an optical-quality filter). Just a few minutes ago I looked out to see the last bit of sunlight kissing the almost-done-for leaves, helped by a lot of Bay Area air pollution trapped by a high pressure system. We're on the NW edge of the air quality problems, but there was enough between us and the sunset to create a bit of special light. It's a quiet picture to evoke simple pleasures. Hope you enjoy!

Canon 5D3, 70-200 at 200, ISO 200, f/4.5. Just a small amount cropped off the right, and only basic LR corrections.

I can understand why you're thankful to have that out your kitchen window -- especially because it changes throughout the day and the seasons.

I agree with Dennis' comments above. The view out our windows is the view we see most, and it becomes so emotionally important to us. You have a great view of gorgeous trees. Having said that, this image seems a bit flat to me. I think it needs a little punch, and a place to focus on. Thanks for sharing your kitchen view with us.

I think this is very bucolic. What a view. The light is really beautiful.

Actually I think the simplicity of the flatness of the light is what made me go for the camera, but it probably doesn't come across well in a "print." I tried a layer with Glamour Glow and Darken-Lighten Center, and tossed it. Liked the original more. But I'll continue to play with it, I'm sure!
