I'm fine with the tight crop, and I think the white background -- especially with the whites in the dahlia -- was a great idea. Very nicely done.

I could see a version with more room sides and top, but it's such a gorgeous image that that's a small thing.
I just pulled it into PS for a closer look and noticed that you do have an embedded profile, but it is AdobeRGB. The many people out there who don't have color-managed browsers will be seeing it with dulled-down colors. (The browser will "assign" sRGB to it.) Be sure to convert to sRGB before posting on any web location. That's the main thing -- if that is done, having an embedded profile is less important but still a good idea.
Simply beautiful, Anita! I love the look of a single flower/insect/etc. with a pure white bkgd. This is a perfect blossom, creating its own composition with the petals, and very lovely with rich pinks and glowing golds. I just made a note to pick up some white foam core.

If anyone is seeing this version brighter / more saturated than the previous one, yor browser is not color-managed. That's only a problem in the occasional cases where an image is not in sRGB. For a color-managed browser, if the image is Adobe RGB AND tagged (as is the first one above) the colors will show properly. In other words, both images will look the same, and be displayed correctly.

Another vote for the repost Anita! Electric colours and very nice comp. Colours look slightly more intense on the repost.
Jackie, you're describing what I talked about in pane 12 above -- but I probably wasn't very clear about it.
