Very interesting composite indeed.
From the thumbnail I thought it was just the coyote in an unusual Comp.
Nicely done! I think the coyote could also easily stand well in this scenic comp all on his own.
You've used the theme very creatively in this image. Besides it being so clever, I like the similarity in color of the eyes and the grass.
I don't have much experience in doing composites, but I've read some about it. One of the tricky things is making the assembled parts of it work together in terms of things like tone and lighting. As much to satisfy my own curiosity as anything else, I tried a couple things just on the coyote -- a Hue/Saturation layer to reduce the saturation and slightly darken it (except for the eyes), then the Fog preset in Nik Color Efex.
Gary, great OOTB thinking! Or should I say great coyote thinking! I, too, was thinking along the lines of Dennis. You could experiment a couple of ways. Since it is the coyote's dream, the sheep landscape could be more of an illusion. You could also play with making the coyote less red and more of the yellowish color for a more blended image. I like that images like this make the rest of us think! The composite lines are super interesting, with the curved horizon near the top of the image, and the repeating curved lines in the grasslands. The size & the placement of the coyote is well done.
Great concept. Your image gets the message across very well. The horizontal lines create a peaceful scene that contrasts nicely with the Coyote's threatening eyes. Good for you for trying a composite! I think making the coyote and the sheep blend more would be a good idea, but I've no idea how to do it. This is a good OOTB image.
Thanks to all for the look and comments.
This is cool. I do like the repost, where I find the coyote more menacing looking. In the first I find my eyes lock on the coyote. Great concept, well executed.
