Reflections

I photographed this at a seasonal pond of water. The water level was the highest I have ever seen after our week of torrential rains & floods in Colorado in Sept. Trees normally on dry ground were surrounded by water, making these reflections. I used Topaz simplify 4, water color and Nik Efex Pro, image borders.

I love the real trunk mixed in with the reflected ones. Good seeing!

What would you think about lightening the real trunk just a little (and its reflection)?

Greetings. Agree with Diane, the real trunk is great... wish it were just a little brighter. The color reflected in the water is particularly cool. Border... not my preference.

Nice job. I like the composition. Having several light trees balances the one larger dark tree. I, too, suggest lightening the dark tree, and maybe adding a touch of contrast to it. This is a scene I see on a seasonal pond near me.

Very well seen Nancy! Has a real serene feel to it. I think it might be improved by the lightening of the real tree too:) The colours are gorgeous.

I wanted to add that I see this scene, but not as beautifully as this photo. And, I know that photographing something like this, and creating this simplicity, is not easy. Well done.

Thanks all for the suggestion of making that one tree lighter. Here is a repost. Michael, I added the thin border because I thought the white reflected aspen trunks looked like they were dropping into the image from nowhere. I meant for the border to give a bit of a visual anchor.

Nice! Might go even lighter / more contrasty with the reflection of the trunk, except for the highlight near the bottom. The border does look aspen-ish to me.

An elegant simply stated image with a wonderful pallet of color. Adding a bit of exposure to the aspen trunk is an improvement.
