Weekly Theme: Copper Eagle Sculpture

Always up for learning, this is an interesting technique, I need to read more about it.

i think I have florals that qualify as well, but not sure.

here is a shot of a copper eagle sculpture of more than 100 years old.

caught this mid day probably right after 1 pm.

has not been altered, backdrop was a stucco wall under an overhang porch which rendered the wall very dark and in shadow.

camera, Sony cybershot dsc hx 100/v

No flash used.
cropped only, no color modification.

Very interesting sculpture and you portrayed it well, especially with the challenge of midday light! The turquoise colors really add to the image and a natural black bkgd is perfect.

i was hoping this fit the theme.

these statues, here are 2 are amazing and are life sized, exact eagle size.

the colors are all natural, come from sitting out in the sun in the elements since they were made, from copper out of Jerome, Arizona.

Nice image for the theme, Linz! I love the patchwork of colors. The BG doesn't look completely black on the right side, so I would darken it to black. Also the cropping is very tight.

Great colors on the statue and well-portrayed. I think I would like a little more room, rather than such a tight crop, especially to the left. More of the black background would work well, I think.

I will have to go back and find my original to see if there was any extra room at all to expand.

i do see the point, but know I cropped in tight for the situation.

these 2 statues literally have been surrounded by ugly.... Picnic tables, bathrooms, trains, out buildings, etc....

so to avoid all that is the crop, but will see if there is any extra at all.

the bottom right corner brown area is more the accurate color, the wall was a hot chocolate colored stucco in shadow.

i didnt change it in the photo, but can see maybe I should go in and turn that lack to match the top.

You do not need to go back to the original image to add more space. Simply expand all the edges using the crop tool and stretching it out beyond the original borders, equal in all directions. Then go to "edit", "fill' and choose black from the drop down menu.
