Greetings. So working on the last one I used a single pixel brush to fill in a couple of spots and it occurred to me (perhaps, I'm a bit slow) that hey you could just put a black overlay layer over an image, reduce transparency to use the image as a guide and paint lines (white in a black mask) over the major features of the image. The color of the original would kind of self-correct some of the crudeness (well, my drawing crudeness anyway). When finished (and to check how things are looking) return the black fill later to 100% opacity, Boost brightness and saturation to taste (single pixel lines are a bit faint... and voilā...
This was done very quickly maybe 15 minutes... ha, I'm rather pleased...
Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
-Michael-

I love it! Your drawing skill for lines is a lot better than mine!

Congratulations Michael, you actually scratched. When I tried this technique, it was a bust. I like the simplicity of the image. Well done.

Michael, I love this! I also love the simplicity and the spareness of it. Less is more and this really emphasizes that point. And your drawing skills are way better than mine:S3:

REAL scratch art! Why didn't I think of that? Well done!
A great advertisement for a Wacom tablet.

What a great "aha" moment. In fact, there are products that you can buy that are made just for this technique. The paper has colors underneath the coating and the artist scratches off the coating to reveal the color. This is mostly for kids to use in arts and crafts, but some true artists use this technique. Good one!

Judy, gary, Cheryl, Diane, Kerry,
Thanks much for the comments. Why I got such a kick out of this one is that I don't draw very well, but because the underlying image is being revealed with the lines to a certain extent the image corrects the imprecise drawing (I might look into a Wacom, Diane, the mouse is not a very good drawing tool). Zooming in to draw is also a great help.
I'll post another.
By the way I should have said - white mask draw with single pixel black brush (over reduced opacity black fill layer).
Cheers,
-Michael-

Nice work! I like the simplicity of the lines and image. Also, the bit of color. I think you did a very good job.

I love your technique! Now it's something I want to try when I get a chance. Congrats on this one!
