I darkened this image in PS to make it a silhouette, converted to B&W using Silver Efex, and then used Detail Extractor from Color Efex Pro and the Poster Edges filter to give it the scratch art look. Photo is of my cat, Silver.

I love it Christopher! A superb example of Photoshopped scratch art! Kudos for figuring out how to do it so well!
I'm loving this too Chrstopher! And I'm so glad to see you posting again. This is a great example for the theme. Thanks for sharing your workflow (and thoughts) that worked so well. Of course you had to use Silver Efex on Silver... :c3: Cute kitty.
The white on black is most effective. I like how the fur, and whiskers, look. Just enough to show us it is a kitty. I would like to see the eye--it is the first thing I thought of when first viewing the image. Nice composition and work.
Great scratch art or it could even be chiaro/scuro image. Agree with above, that the eye would be nice touch. Very well done Christopher.
Just a glint/hint of a reflection in the eye, otherwise I really like this one!
Great image, Christopher:S3: And Silver looks like a very handsome kitty! I love the technique you arrived at for scratch art. It seems like there are a million ways in Photoshop to arrive at it but this one works particularly well with the silhouette. Thanks for posting.
Christopher,
Greetings. Cool looking cat. Works well with the theme. Might clean up a few blotches in the bg. Good show!
Cheers,

Gorgeous rimlight! Very nicely controlled effect.
Thanks a lot, everyone, for your kind words and suggestions. Not sure how easy it'll be to reveal his eye given that the eye was completely in shadow to begin with, but I'll give it a try and see.
