Blue Tailed Bee Eater
A master of an avian hunter this bird is. The mating rituals is full of tantrums and chivalry and a fantastic thing to experience. These male are known only to offer insects that were caught in mid air in flight during the enigmatic proposals without which the lady would simply move towards a different suitor. So much for true love !!

Canon 7D, 420 mm
Shot in the outskirts of the southern city of Mysore in India
Vivid colors, perfect display of prey, like the bird looking at it.
The light was a bit harsh, and the detail on the breast is looking a bit coarse.
The slightly angled perch helps keep the image from appearing too static.

nice pose and prey is a plus. the image is severely contrasty and oversharpened, I don't think it was the light but the post processing

Very beautiful bird and the prey is a bonus. You got good advice above. How much of a crop is it? Loi

Beautiful bird, nice comp, and of course the prey item is a big plus. Processing-wise the image is oversharpened, contrasty, and has a bit of a magenta cast...all easy to tweak and worth IMO as this has tons of potential.

Beautiful bird and prey but mega-over-sharpened and too contrasty....

Nice bird, prey is a bonus and clean BG too. Sharpnening department has been mentioned.
