Excellent detail and a nice topside view. Wish the bird was flying towards us. In your workflow, what does DE stand for?

Hi Gail, another species I havent seen or even heard of before. I like this flight pose, with a great view of the tail. Well exposed looking into the sky, and I do like the BG with the OOF snow. Well captured.

Wonderful pose and detail! I love the soft motion-like effect in the wingtips. It may be as much DOF as motion, but whatever it is, it works well to bring the eye to the very well-focused head.
I don't know the coloration of the bird but I see a magenta cast; here is a quick comparison with a simple Color Balance correction.
You might want to touch out the strip of cloud in the UL, also. It competes too much with the stunning bird.

Hi Doug,
DE is detail extractor which is a plug in on Nik Efex Pro. One of my favorite tools if used judiciously.
Thanks Diane. I see the magenta cast and will correct it- somewhere between my Op and your repost will be correct!

I like the composition here Gail, the flight away doesnt bother my eye here
the out streched wings and the lovely tails details look fantastic
Love the details over all, I dont understand the colour shade in the one you posted and one by Diane however on my monitor they look 2 different birds to me in terms of colours, however my eye likes more of the OP.

I love this species and this is a great image of one. For me, the background makes this one special....I only see this bird by water, so I immediately thought crashing waves in the bg...of course distant mountain and snow patches makes much more sense :S3: But it's a vague and ambigious background either way, and I like it! Great angle of view on the bird too. Color wise, the OP was much better than the repost imo,...though I would like to see what something in between the two looked like.

Magnificent flight shot with blurred wing tips giving feel of motion. Very nice details, colors, background and composition.
Love the frame. Seeing this bird for the first time. TFS.

Satish.

Hi,
I thought i am going to see the repost which is between the 2 versions, you were there you know the light at the location more better than anyone so i am interested to see your final version of this image.

Hi Vishal, This is the final version and the colors are spot on. I reduced the magenta by -1 in color balance. Diane's version is off re:color.
