This white crowned sparrow was photographed during the previous spring migration in Duluth, Minnesota. Food and MP3 calls were used during
the image making process. The perch is set up. Canon7d, Sigma50/500, iso400, f9, 1/640, small crop, noise reduction on the background, USM.

Perfectly exposed with lovely details and pose and I am loving the vegetation. I would crop from bottom and a little from left. All that environment on the bottom is detracting a bit from your gorgeous bird.
The moss-covered perch was put in the wrong place. Does anyone know why I say that?
Beautiful bird, pose, and details, Shawn. I could see more room above and to the right, and would crop the perch a bit. I love how all the colors work together.

I think this a really nice photo of this attractive sparrow.
I agree about some off they bottom, but this is a very setting for this
species and I think the perch is nice and different.
Great light on this handsome White crown. Beautiful exposure and detail and I like the unique perch and the color that it brings to the scene. A smooth earth tone BG and a pleasing comp makes for a very nice presentation. Very nice Shawn.

I went through a bit of a "moss period" this spring. Please feel free to post any crop suggestions...
I struggled with this presentation, because I did not want to show the bird any larger in the frame
than this. I did crop from the bottom and the left for the OP. And, I do wish the feet were showing
here...:)
One of my favorite sparrow species (although I say that almost every time I see a sparrow:S3:). I love the mossy perch and the IQ looks great. The BG looks good for the most part, just wish the darker part did not run behind the subject (I suspect that may the reason for Artie's question). Looking forward to these guys' return during the fall migration...
