These guys are just too cool. Quite common in its preferred habitat, but always a treat to observe. Here's a view of the topside.
Canon 7D + 500mmf/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, some dodging and burning, eye work, and an extra leaf at top cloned out. Small crop for comp (about 80% FF). Audio used.
This is really top notch, Daniel!!! Love the fuzziness of the branch and the B&W bird against the colors of the rest of the frame!!! The bird's pose is perfect for this comp.
BG and perch colors are wonderful against the well-defined B/W bird. The leaves balance the bird very nicely.
Hi Dan, excellent IQ, and love the soft light. The warbler is well exposed on both blacks and whites, tack sharp, and I like how you have framed him between the foliage and bottom of the frame.
sweet, excellent exposure and details. wish there were some leaves at the bottom too, to balance the composition.

Sweet view of this little one, and I like the narrow dof. The leaves top side look like an umberella. I would remove the partial one ulc that is not attached to anything.
Thanks guys! Satish, most of my processing of bird images include darkening of the pupil by using the burn tool ("shadows", brush hardness set to 30%, 6-8% exposure). Sometimes that is enough...if not then the irises are dodged too (same settings as the burn tool) and then saturation added selectively by using the sponge tool at 8%. It is easy to overdo it so just be very careful when going the "eye doctoring" route...Quote:

I just love these little guys; so graphic. Nicely captured topside view, with good detail, exposure. Great perch, which looks almost tropical for Ontario.
