Another image from Ormiston, NT (Australia). It was a real thrill to spend some time watching these guys in the wild - I actually kept these in an aviary when I was a kid (along with many other finch species).
D800, 300 2.8, 1.7TC, f/8, 1/500, ISO200.
Thanks, Greg.
Cool bird! Nice details, BG, and pebbles. Maybe tone down a couple hot spots on some of the rocks, and the oof pebble between his feet. Nice as is though.

I hope you weren't lying on the highway to get this low angle shot lol
Unusual composition on the stones, but works nicely, amazing eye and sharp detail

Wonderful image of finch, Greg. Love the pose with open beak, beautiful colors, nice superb stony perch, very nice details and IQ.
Great composition too. If mine, would remove OOF stones between legs and below the tail.

Satish.

Thanks Phil - I couldn't have been further away from a road! It's in Ormiston Gorge (about a 2 hour hike) - this is actually at the edge of a waterhole - very typical habitat for this species,
Cheers Greg

Beautiful image of a beautiful bird.
I really like the rocks he is standing on. Gives a uniqueness to the image.
Reds and blacks look great as well.
IQ is excellent.
My only minor issue is the OOF rocks between the finch's legs. If this was mine I would clone it out but this is not a deal breaker by any means.

Hi Greg, your low angle works well, and love the pose with the open beak. Overall, well exposed on difficult colours, and tack sharp. Good detail on the pebbles too. Of course, the finch pops so well from the lighter BG.

Nice capture of a striking little bird. Exposure, detail and colors all look great. The rocks are unique and the Bg is nice and smooth. Well captured.
