At times the setting looked like an outdoor studio, so I went for a few such images :S3:
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, full-frame, one small OOF BG twig removed at top (clone tool), theright side of the face (our left) was slightly shaded...dodged to even it out, darkened the pupils, darkened the bare branch at right.
This is outstanding! The light is great and the detail on the owl is perfect. I love the leaves bottom right, I even like the ones peaking in from the top left. I might remove the branch from behind and see how that looks. Excellent portrait.

The eyes look great, very hard to get them I n nice settings where I live.

Great IQ Daniel, the natural light looks terrific as does of course those splendid Owly eyes. Liking the use of foliage in this as it adds more character to the overall composition, rather than look a bit sterile ...but I think the one oof branch behind could be cloned out
