Here is a photo I took last summer on the Otonabee River in Ontario. It was taken from a moving boat. It was our first sighting of a green heron. I didn't know whether to clone a bit on his beak or leave it. I did clone out a spider web on the background.

Attractive look at a hard to get close to bird where I live.
The dark BG is very nice, the heron is exposed perfectly and is nice and sharp.
I would tone down the perch a bit.
Nice pose and nice presentation, Karen. You could go larger, up to 1200 pixels if I'm not mistaken.

Good comments from Dan. The bill fuzz doesn't bother me.
I would be curious if by raising the shadows a bit you could show a tiny bit more detail in the BG, to add a little more depth and texture.

The bird looks pretty good, the log he is on is a little bright, not much you could do with the bg with it in shade and the subject in bright sun.

Thanks for the comments and critique. I will tone down the log. I should have thought of it before. I might be able to be out some details in the shadows.
