This image works really well demonstrating the bird's behavior. I don't feel it is too tight as the action is the star in this image and making the bird and squirrel smaller would diminish their impact. Great position of the bird, head angle is good and the squirrel is obviously a squirrel. It all works well.
Very dramatic image, you can almost see the struggle the squirrel is going through. You made the best of a great opportunity that presented itself to you.

I know Herons eat things other than fish and frogs, but this is very strange. Did you ask anybody if they had seen this before, a great catch. You should enter it into the Africa Geographic competition.

Great shot Stephen! Is that an imm. Black-headed Heron? I've been to South Africa a couple of times but only saw a few of this species. You caught one of nature's life and death struggles in a spectacular image. Great job!
