You held nice detail, but managed a soft effect none the less. Like the texture (can almost feel the paper).
This is excellent, Clyde! The perch and the bg really makes the bird stand out. Wonderful texture and effect. Very nice!
Really great bkgd texture and color! Very nice on the bird also. Maybe you can share with us what you did post-processing. I really had to think for a moment what kind of blue-colored bird is in the south. Then I realized it was a grackle glowing with iridescent color. The yellow eye adds a nice bit of color to the image.
Thank you Mitch ,Indranil , and Nancy ! Nancy , This is basically an overexposed Grackle ,The perch is Sea oaks ,location is Tybee island ,Ga. I processed in acr as normal and just made a layer copy with a black mask, made a exposure adjustment ,Then painted in the bird with the white brush. Texture is paint filter in Cs6.The edges of the birds shoulders and left side of the tail reveals where I was too heavy handed , BUT, After I look at it on here some I feel I should have painted more of the edges (Darker) to give a faded type shadow ,at least on one side anyway . I'm very Happy this Has been so well received. Thanks again for the encouragement !
Neat effect and composition on the grackle, I might have copied and pasted the original sharp eye back in...TFS
Hi, Clyde, thanks for sharing your workflow. This has a lovely three-dimensional effect and the oil paint really makes the grackle glow. I especially like the sea-oats in bg also.:S3:
Well done Clyde. The image has a nice three dimensional quality. The textured bg is effective.
I especially like the blues, the feathers, the pose. So, this is a Grackle! I would not have guessed, but then, I don't know a lot about birds. I see what you mean about being a bit heavy-handed with the dark in some places. The subtle reeds are lovely.
