Using a drip pond is the best way to photograph female warblers (They don't respond to audio or food) I was lucky to get both the male and female on my perch as they came down to bath. Setting up the perch parallel to camera plane allowed me to get them both in focus.

I wish I had a place around where I could experiment with your amazing set up technics, Alan.
Striking image and a first time for me to see them both on a perch.
Love the perch, background and the birds look great together, especially good looking is the male.

It's great to get both in the same frame and sharp. It's always a pleasure and learning experience looking at your photos Alan. The BG is great and I love the colors of these little ones.

how long does it take for resident birds to get accustomed to your drip setup (your Texas coast birds are thirsty migrants after just crossing theGulf of Mexico, and I'd expect there would be an immediate pileup on a drip setup). Is it same day or days?

Sweet composition among the foliage, all very complimentary to the birds, sharp detail and light is very nice....in a perfect world having the birds bodies totally free from any foliage would be good....but we can only live in hope

Don during migration at migrant traps on the Gulf coast, bird arrival changes by the hour and birds do not stick around more than a day unless there is bad weather. So birds arriving from Mexico that have never seen my drip, will come down to it as soon as they land. Within minutes.

I was wondering about the times when you have setup at resident bird sites with drip -- how long does it take for the residents to start showing up?

I see. For residant birds, hting can be much slower, with birds only visiting the drip once or twice a day, but it only takes a few hours for birds to find the water and start using it.
