Been away on a Southern US adventure.
Not a birding trip, more a B&B, history, architecture, Southern fine dining trip.
I traveled with just a Landscape lens, a 70-200 and an extender.
Most bird photos were happenstance, I just pulled out this short lens when I had an opportunity.
I did get a bunch of "new to me" bird photos and had a wonderful time in the Old South.
I took this at the Magnolia Plantation outside Charleston, South Carolina. The Mom had just flown,
I have nice photos of her feeding them, but like the wailing of the chicks.
Dan, looks as if you and I may have followed a simlar course. We were at Magnolia Plantation in early April, but I didn't get anything this nice. Congratulations on a terrific image. The Anhinga nests I saw were completely obstructed with foliage, but yours is wonderfully completely clear. Great job.

Excellent image, Dan. Love the open beaks of the three larger chicks.

What a great thing to see and photograph, like their stretched necks and impressed you managed a picture of a nest with no branches etc in front

Welcome back Dan. Most baby birds are ugly and these are no exception but you have a great image of these, nice and unobstructed and sharp, love the moss.

Good to see you back Dan! I'm sure the D7000 was happy to get out of the closet! I like all the open beaks and different HA's, nice BG separation. Glad you had a good time down here in the south--I'm sure the food was the best part!

Hi Dan, I havent seen Anhinga chicks before, and nicely captured against a clear BG. Good to see all three beaks open, and Im sure the one looking away also has his beak open. :w3

Nice capture of a nest of Anhingas. Never seen these chicks before. They sure are gangly. Great that you found the nest in the open. Well done.

I like the setting, impatient chicks, unobstructed view and composition. Nice image Dan.
