Beautiful subject and I love the eye contact!
Nice and sharp, especially at 1/40 SS. You handled a difficult lighting situation well.
I cropped a little of the bottom and side, IMO it makes the image even stronger.
I also slightly warmed and brought the middle tones up.

James & Satish, thanks for your feedback. The RP definitely looks even better James. Minor change in cropping improves it so much. You have opened my eyes to scrutinise the image carefully before cropping it.
very nice soft image, the eyes really take all the attention. The update looks even better.
Well done with such a slow shutter, the owl really blends in well with that tree.
Hi Sanjeev, thats pretty sharp for 1/40, and those talons on the little guy look even sharper. Good eye contact, and if this were mine, I would have tried a vertical to eliminate some of the OOF stuff on the left.
It seems your owl has branched out of the nest. They sure are more difficult to photograph once they branch. I am seeing a fairly strong magenta cast to your image. The RP works better in terms of comp.
Nice looking Owl, well photographed. The repost crop looks better.
