The base image of Ring-billed Gulls is a composite. Then I added a texture overlay, reduced opacity differently for the main bird and surrounding birds. Then a trip into Pixel Bender, oil paint and PS dry brush. Adjusted opacities. Then I played around with the sliders in Topaz Adjust, Stylized, Dark Night. The 2-sided black border was added since I thought it needed a bit of balance.
Hey, doesn't anyone else dream?? :eek3:

Perfect for the theme. Subtle handling of the shadow images abd background. I really like it.

Very nice artwork, like the effects. Have a great time in Grouse country.

Thanks, Paul & Mitch.
Mitch, I thought of you as I tried to carefully cut-out the gulls for the composite. You do such a great job on that. I was very glad that my intention was to blur the image. That way no one could really see the details of my extractions!

This is certainly creative and quite appealing. Nice job with the texture, and the different opacities on the gulls was a great idea. I really like that black border for the balance you sought and just because it's so out of the box.

Nancy, you are really doing a great job with this theme! I used to have very vivid, dark dreams. Now I sleep like a baby and almost never have dreams that I remember. I love this image, especially the dark swooping line under the main gull. :S3:

Nancy, I also really like how you handled the birds in the background. The whole piece is very suggestive...as it should be when you are representing a dream!
