You have to love the attitudes of the reddish egrets. They are always good for a show. Taken a recently with Capt. James out on the Hooptie Deux in Tampa Bay. Thanks James!

It's a beautiful capture! The colors and the attitude are terrific!! Only suggestion is to correct the horizon a bit as it is a little off to the right. Rotating the image counter-clock wise about 5 degrees, maybe less, should be enough.
Great job!!

Hi Randy,
I know it is a tricky thing, but despite you leveled the photo with the water line it still feels like there is a slope, due to the position of the egret and the shore line. Pose is awesome, like the fluffed feathers and how the light hits the wings. Nice capture.

Thanks for the input folks. Re: leveling, I went with the water level around the legs, despite the apparent slope of the shore. The darkness of the shore made the slope less noticeable to me than if the brighter water was sloped.

Love the raised neck and head feathers.
The light is terrific and the IQ is excellent despite the large crop you said you did.
I like the splash around the legs and the green vegetation in RUC.
I might be tempted to darken the area between the water and the true black BG to make it a uniform black and get rid of the blue dots and dashes.

Great pose, fantastic light. Bright leaves on the tree are a little distracting. Can tell sig. crop from your D4. Keep em coming from your trip!
Gary.

I remember this location, looks very good in terms of pose and techs. details are great. I just wish the tip of the far wing had not merged with the leaves in the BG.

The light on this bird with the darker backdrop is extra nice, makes the bird definitely the dominant subject. The raised crest and splashed add life and are the icing for this one.

Randy, your inclusion of habitat is greatly appreciated by me! Something we don't see often with this species and it's quite appealing.

Hi Randy, love the wingspread, and I really like how the light has been cast on the egret, which in turn, makes him pop against the darker BG. With regards to the rotation, you are dead right to use the water around the legs as a reference, but somehow looking at the blue ripples in the FG, I would try a version with a touch of CCW rotation.

Great job on the EXP with a definite attitude. Agree on the slight merge....

Thanks everyone for the comments. Yes, I can easily clean up the merge of the wingtip, wasn't too bothered by it, but I really appreciate your feelings about it and the image in general.
