Just a pair of common Rainbow Lorikeets during a snuggle moment. Taken yesterday in pretty adverse overcast and dull late afternoon conditions, from a distance of over 20 metres, but it's not often I get a crack at these common birds.
Canon 7D + 500 f4......f5, 1/400, ISO640, no flash, hand held shot...largish crop, selective sharpen and noise reduction and dulled the backdrop a little to reduce backlight glare
I like the interaction! well done on the timing. Good details too, there is a tiny bit of motion blur in the heads. Using as higher ISO and faster shutter speed would have helped.
colors are a bit over-saturated and contrasty. The red channel is blown as you can see in the histogram. for me the main issue is the perch, it is too dominant and distracting.

Nice shot of these two lovebirds, literally. Beautiful color and good exposure. The perch looks a bit big but you cant control that. Nice colorful capture

Hey Phil,
Colors can be naturally saturated but clipping of colors is a processing issue. The blown red channel is also a result of processing. You can def get an image that has full natural saturation without clipping the channels.
I have noticed your previous images are often contrasty too. It is a monitor or RAW conversion issue. I thought it was worth mentioning.

A tender moment for sure, and your vertical cmop is good. The BG would have been nicer without the bright patches but I understand the conditions were likely not best to get that uniform look. The birds steal the show anyhow! The perch could be toned down, lots of details in there to extract even with a simple tool such as the burn tool, check it out:
DC's repost in panel #9 makes a good picture even better. I think the perch is just fine, and I loved your comments in panel #4. I've been enjoying your pictures. Well done!
