Another experiment

This is another one of my "mechanical" ephemera images. This one was done on purpose. It is a statue that is in front of the Center for the Performing Arts building (the little blotchy thing on the left) and the Harn Museum of Art (the little blotchy thing on the right). I didn't use as much camera
movement on this one but the exposure time was 4 sec. at f/8. The one I posted yesterday was f/4 at .6 sec. The interesting thing to me is that the scale of the buildings in the background is totally out of whack with reality. They are much, much larger than this in person. The textures in the background are large oak trees that were overhanging the statue. This is straight out of the camera except cropping a little from the top and USM.

Cheryl, you're cracking up! Really, I think you are indulging your abstract side and these are fascinating. So much motion and lines and colors and shapes. Seemingly incoherent but not really. I think you could give Picasso a run for the money! I really like the strong orange backgrounds. It adds to the surrealism.
What lens are you using?

This is fun. If that's pretty much straight from the camera, I'm going to assume that you were using the Art Vivid setting (or whatever it's called), and the orange background comes with it.

This is very abstract and has a beautiful feel to it. Love the shapes and colors. Nice job.

Thanks, Nancy, Dennis and Nick. Nancy, I have used the 24-105 on all of the ones I've attempted. Dennis, I think I was using Art Standard - there was a lot of golden ambient light - the sculpture itself is many colored. I'm glad you all like it - I like it a lot and was afraid maybe I was cracking up:S3:

Great stuff Cheryl, you are certainly getting out of the box, and what you are getting out of that box is amazing! I'm dying to get my hands on that camera and try some of this!
