Hi Dan, this is an interesting composition and an effective one! Conventional logic tells me green in vegetation and blue is water with the white line formed by breaking wave :S3: I am sure there is a different explanation. As for the composition, I like it a lot! The colors are super with the white line distinctly separating the two. I could see this more as a pano crop with a bit of the bottom. Excellent blur!
Par 5, 10th Hole at Doral....water, edge is sand and fairway is what we'r seeing. Seriously no idea...nice blur
I'm going with Indranil's analysis of what it is. My guess would be somewhere along the Pacific Coast Highway. Also -- even though I like what's happening in the green, I agree with his suggestion about cropping from the bottom.
Hi Dan - my guess would have been the same at first but on staring at this a little more I'm going to say that the white is a light not sand but other than that I have no idea. Whatever it is, it works.
TFS,
Rachel
Hi, Dan, I'm stumped! I love the colors and the flow as well as the composition but I think the ocean is a little too obvious. I thought Doral was a hilarious guess:S3:
Thanks all for looking, playing a little and for the nice critiques! This was shot with a 300mm lens with a 2x tc, 1/5sec, f8, iso 400, (panning in an upward arc I think?). I really like that most viewers agree with me that it seems to be the ocean in the distance with grass or a putting green in the foreground The white band that to me, looks like a breaking wave, is actually light coming through a line of bubbles at the waterline of my living room fish tank! The blue was produced by the blueish bulb in the hood. The space between the top of the frame here and the "breaking wave" is the space between the top of the tank and the waterline. The beautiful (IMO) PUTTING GREENS or lush wild grass is a plastic plant in the tank! I was quite amazed when I saw this pop up on the computer screen! FUN!
