First post in OOTB - Dead palm frond blur

After watching Artie and Denise' You Tube video on creating blurs, I came over to admire the work here, and was inspired to go out and give it a try. It's fun and very liberating from the usual "critical focus and avoid blur" photography I usually try and do. I know I'll learn a lot from all of you here, so please feel free to offer all the tips, suggestions, and feedback you care to give. Ok, now for the dead palm frond... taken with a Nikon D7000/Sigma 150mm macro lens with NO tripod :w3 @1/25, f/9, ISO 100. Processed in LR4 and "tweaked" with Nik Viveza for color and structure.

It's good to see you over here, Jeannean, and I really like your image. Especially with the opposing lines, the blur is very well done. The fact that you've got strong lines in different directions adds a lot to the image. You achieved a wonderful range of tones. Very nice work.

Jeannean, welcome to OOTB! I love this blur - the lines are beautiful, especially the ones on the right. I would crop a little off of the left if it were mine. I hope we see more of you here - you've got a great eye:S3:

Hi Jeannean! Glad to see you posting here too, you will find many interesting avenues of artistic expression here and we look forward to your ideas as well. I love the gold color palette and tonal range as Dennis mentioned. Blurs often impart a sense of motion due to the nature of the creation, and this one gives me a sense of some creamy, dreamy liquid being poured over the canvas. Very nice for a first, or any, try! Don't be a stranger, we love seeing people discover the joys of OOTB.

Hi Jeannean- I first tried blurs after attending Denise and Artie's talk at B&H. They and others warned me it can be addictive. It is. Nice job on this one. I like the flow and colors.
