Miguel's hoodie thread was a good example of the high ISO features of todays cameras.
You wonder about what will be 5 years from now?
I took this a few weeks back, I was set up for flight, thus the high SS, but did not worry about the ISO.
This is a 50% crop at iso 6400.
I used NR on the BG only.
Very nice display of the D800 high ISO prowess. Your tasteful BG cleanup has helped clean up the image without sterilizing it.
Cheers

Neat setting and I too like the clean-up you've done. I only wish the larger clump in front of the subject would not have been there.
It seems that in 5 years there will be no reason to set the ISO at anything lower than 1600 at any time!

Dan, that looks very clean! Getting the correct exposure is key (I think), when shooting at these high ISOs. You don't want to try to recover anything from the shadows.
Very nice PP work on the bg. Did you use the Noise Removal filter in PS?

Nice high-ISO capture; no real noise problem to my eye. Yes, the key is not to underexpose, in my experience.

Nicely done Dan. Pose, crop and bit of clean up all look good. After seeing both the crop and the original I am curious about how you arrived at 50% crop figure, and I know this has been discussed a few times before. Thks

Dave, just an estimate, looking at it again, probably a bit more than half of the full frame.
I only kept the downsized photos, so I don't have the true pixel dimensions.
I just kept these as high ISo examples, not great photos by any means.

Nice image and the high ISO is very impressive, Dan. I wonder if the new 1D X is capable of the same. Propably it is.
