The sound that these birds make, on take-off, is very loud - quiet difficult to follow the flock and finding a focus point is a challenge :-)

You did well with finding a focus point, Craig. It is a nice image, I like the way the were concentrated along a diagonal of your frame. One has nice banking pose and most of them are sharp.

I think the oof foreground makes for a fine framing element in this one.

This is a hard shot to pull off. Was your SS only 1/400? I find it amazing that you got so many birds sharp at that SS.
The OOF FG frames the image nicely.
The one bird with the outstretched wings adds to the shot,

Hi Craig, your focus tracking must have gone haywire trying to sort out who is who. The banking quelea stands out so well amongst the others. I really like how the FG has created a vignette effect around the frame

This is an excellent shot Craig with so many birds in focus, I too like the effect of the oof vegetation.
