Looks like a Verdin with that chestnut shoulder patch and yellow face. They are smaller than any oriole that comes to mind.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I agree with you that it is a Verdin.
I have never seen one before, will try to get a better picture now.

Hi CM- Verdins are much smaller than orioles. It's a very interesting species of debated affinities. Currently it is classified in the "Penduline Tit" family (Remizidae) and is only New World member. I would love to see one one day.
I thought 'Verdin' right away, having seen my first and only one in Nevada last October. They are gorgeous birds.
This is a better view of the Verdin, I shot the next day.
