This is an uncommon songbird endemic to Australia. Recent genetic work has found that this species and only 1 other (Wattled Ploughbill from PNG) should be assigned to their own family (Falcunculidae).
It inhabits woodland forests (mainly eucalyptus) where it tears the bark from trees gleaning insects.

Nice setting, excellent pose and nice smooth background , Greg. It looks like from this angle that it has only three toes and small feet.

Beautiful setup Greg. I love how the leaves balance and frame the image. The slanted perch is great and the bird placement is perfect. Gorgeous species.

Gorgeous image with great colours, comp (love the leaves in URC), techs. I like that the head is pointing up, would have been great had it been turned a bit more towards us too but it is nicely paralleling the perch. Highly appealing!

Nice one Greg, I like the composition with the leaves framing the subject, nice sharp detail and great eye clarity. This image shows the powerful beak nicely, I've been advised the people who tag and study these birds recieve some nasty bites
