My first keeper of a Roseate in flight! I've either had them really close wading, or really far flying. This one was shot at Merritt Island last weekend, and hand-holding played a large part in getting ready. I'm not sure I would have had the tripod set-up in time to get a shot like this. Not the prettiest of backgrounds, but I took the sky that was given.
Spoonies are such fun, and since they are fairly slow fliers, you can get a number of frames off usually (once they come into range!)
Well exposed, good comp, angle in frame shows both ventral and dorsal wing surfaces, which is good.
It looks like your focus was on the body or wing, as the head is a bit soft. Often a challenge with long necked birds, keeping the sensor on the head.
When they are flying, I move my active sensor to the side they are flying toward, so it is easier to keep them in the frame and keep it on the head. Doesn't always work, but helps for me.
Cheers
Randy

Good for you on handholding this flight shot, Miguel. While the head may not be as sharp, it's sharp enough to work. You have a good pose here and the BG works well. You are going to have many more chances at these here in Florida!!

Excellent wing position and the flight angle toward you is nice. Try a little more sharpening on the head.

Miguel, excellent shot and exposure both the upper and under wing, which is always a challenge for BIF. Agreed with others regrading the softness of the head, but it will just take a few more tries and you will get the shots you want.

Hi Miguel, good angled flight pose with the raised wings, and I actually like how the colours of the spoonie pop against the lighter sky BG. I agree about the sharpness, so trying a bit of selective sharpening on the head may work. Well captured.

Glad you got this one Miguel, it looks very good. Head is a little soft as ponited out, but I love the near wing and the feather translusence on it.
