Yeah, the introduced House Sparrows are not too popular here in North America due to them being so aggressive towards are native species. They are handsome though, and hearing them chirp on early mornings is always fun (to me anyhow). This guy looks a little ratty and he is not sitting on the best perch, which I would clean up, especially the brighter white stain. I can appreciate that this "urban" feel is pretty much how we see them though. There is a blue cast to the image that can be taken care of during raw conversion or with Color Balance in PS.
You managed a nice close up of this bird with a nice head angle. Good call by Daniel on the cast.
thanks , my monitor needs calibrating a little ,just put a new pc together , yes, I hear the hardy sparrows are causing a great deal of grief in your part of the world , they are getting quite scarce here in south wales , funny we dont get conflicts here with other species ,I regularly see them being "seen off" by bluetits and siskins .
blackbirds and robins seem the biggest bullies here .
hope its ok to repost the image (corrected) is this better .

I heard they were getting scarce in the Old World, or at least in the UK. Superb job on the perch clean-up!! The cast is a little on the greenish side, but alot better than it was.
thanks ,will have to sort my monitor out , thanks for the advice . much appreciated.
