Taken at Ding Darling yesterday. It was dark overcast (but no rain), hence the quality of light. I'm not happy with most of the photos I took...it's tough when it's dreary out...had to up the ISO to 1600. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so maybe I'll fare better. Thanks for C/C which are always welcome!

You caught a great pose here! Good call on trying to keep the shutter speed up but it looks a bit dark/underexposed.
I actually like the quality of overcast light but the quantity can be an issue as you experienced here ... but give me bright overcast any day!
You know, that's exactly what I do when I spot Leeches in the water :eek3: Wonderfully timed Dennis with both feet skipping and wing form, dull light can sometimes be your friend and this despite being a little dull has avoided any bright blown bits particularly on the water. In my opinion { maybe not worth very much hehehehe } I would be inclined to crop out the reflection as I done think it adds anything to the image.........
......maybe something along these lines ?

The image is very interesting, the bird is in action and the face of the bird looks wonderful as its trying to sight its prey.
Liked the second composition as it highlights the bird better.

I think Phil took the words right out of my hand ... crop from the bottom, and keep some more room in front.
