Since Mallards seem to be gaining respect here lately, here is one I took this morning.

Congrats. I like it . . . the bird, the water, the spray . . . interesting crop, too. I've seen this "pose" many times but never got a decent image of it . . .
Wow, color explosion is an under statement, a dynamic image Dan, so vibrant and loving the copious amounts of spray.....showing all the colors of these beauties in a big way, I cant think of anything that I'd alter or prefer to see.
Hi Dan - great pose and the vertical crop seems to work. This really shows off the irridesense of the the mallard.
TFS,
Rachel
Hi Dan, the light has really brought out the colours in this, and love how the bill follows the line of the edge of the near wing. Good DOF, and the flying droplets add interest. I must get to getting more wing flaps myself.
Hi Dan-
Wouldn't change a thing on this one. Great colors and detail. The title is just perfect as well.
Ok, maybe I would have a looser crop, but that is just personal taste.
Miguel
Love it!
Is that snow or water?
Great title and perfectly descriptive! I really like the comp but might add a sliver more on the left for room,
Gail
Dan:
Nice to see you joining the mallard brigade!
Beautiful pose, flying water, wonderful light.
As mentioned, a bit tight in the frame for my tastes.
The saturation looks a bit much compared to my local ducks, but perhaps the Pacific Northwest brings out the great colors!
Love seeing the feet peddling away to lift him up.
Cheers
Randy

Satish.
