WINTER WARBLER

I was surprised to find this lady in southeast Idaho in January. Temps have been down to 19 below zero in the area. She was located along the Snake River where a warm water spring flowing from the canyon wall. I assume the micro enviornment provided by the warm water supports sufficient insect life to sustain the bird. According to Sibley's Guide they will also eat berries during the winter and migration. My ID, female Audubon Yellow-rumped Warbler. Nikon D7000, Nikkor 600mm, f5.6, 1/1250, iso 200, bean bag truck window. Tried to clean up and tone down the busy bg. C & C appreciated.

I like her fluffed up pose, exposure and sharpness. Def. a challenging environment with the bright reeds.

Looks like you perhaps burned the diagonal reeds above the head, and there is a faint gray streak down the middle of the lower one from that.

Glad you got to see her in your area. And I thought it was cold here, whew.

Hey Gary, You did a wonderful job with this one. Love the SH, the EXP, and even the setting. If it could stand an additional crop I would take some off the left and some off the right to get it close to a true 3X2. IQ looks fine as presented.

Really nice pose and head angle showing all of the field marks. She is a beauty! Sometimes it is difficult to catch these birds sitting still, as they often flit about so quickly.

Excellent detail on the bird. BG a little distracting.

Busy background, but completely natural for a Warbler, ours here are not that colorful. Nice pose and detail, love his little fluffy yellow bits hehehe
