Bosque Cornfield Geometry

I swear I did take pictures of lots of birds and bird blurs at the Bosque. I just figured I'd post ones that fit the theme first:S3: The day the IPT went to the Albuquerque Zoo my carpool buddy, Charles, and I went back to Bosque and puttered around. This was one of the cornfields that had been cut - I liked the lines so took this shot. I used Topaz Simplify 4, Painting, Impressionist Color at 67% opacity and then a Nik GND filter to darken the upper part of the image. The Painting filter had lightened it considerably. I left the round white thing in the middle of the cornfield. For some reason it doesn't bother me. If everyone else objects to it, I'll evict it.

I like the lines, too. Big time. The warm/cool contrast is good, too. I'd leave the white thing there (whatever it is). A little mystery is always good.

I'd be inclined to crop some off the top if the image were mine.

Cheryl, I love your OOTB thinking on this one. I might crop some from the top and right if it were mine. Love the Simplify treatment and the lines, great eye for this one!

The image captures the flavor of autumn at Bosque del Apache. I'm looking forward to learning about the various filters and effects. Your application of them on this image works. I too would take some off the top. The white thing may be an electrical box for the pumps used to irrigate the parcel of land. The lush stubble looks like irrigated grain such as wheat or barley. I live surrounded by agriculture and have never photographed a field. A new realm to explore.

Thanks, Gary. I probably use Topaz Adjust 5, Clean and Simplify and Nik Color Efex the most. Topaz is great because their upgrades are free and they have them fairly frequently with Webinars for training. There are also quite a few Workflow tips at the top of this Forum that might speed up your "transformation". Yep, fields, who would have thought it?:S3: I'm always looking for lines and patterns.

I love the lines and the treatment; excellent filter work. I agree about taking a little off the top but I like the rest as presented.

The crossing lines, the triangular shapes of the fields, the line of mountains, the trees all work well together to create a pleasing composition. Your processing is excellent! I would rotate a bit clockwise and crop at bit top and right. That would put the box off center and eliminate some unneeded sky. Nice work!
