This is one of my photos from the Smoky Mountains, we were in the clouds so it was like fog, very preety!
I kept playing with it until I finally got something I thought might work for the theme. I used Topaz Simplify, Oil Paint filter and Nik Silver Efex antique photo (minus the heavy grain) and various other tweaks and also a Color Efex slight vignette blur first.
This has a wonderful lovely feel to it. Definitely soft and foggy. The subtle bkgd texture is perfect.

Thanks Jay! I agree about the trees, but I cropped out the low stone wall at the bottom, right in front of the trees. I will post a version including the wall but I started from scratch and it's not exactly the same of course.

Judy, I tried the stronger vignette,,,,,,looked good to me. I like it better with the wall than without.
Judy, I really like the mood you have with the OP. I'm thinking you could crop out the snow at the base of the wall and use a stronger vignette and it might work better. But I like the OP as well. It would make a nice Christmas card.:S3:
Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I might try to add a stronger vignette by painting it on. I had toned it down in Silver Efex from the original preset.
Cheryl, I could crop off the snow but actually the reason I did it over was because my buddy Jane wants an 11 x 14 print and it has to be as is to get it all in horizontally, but for the web that wouldn't matter. I will probably use it for an email Xmas card along with a few of the other snow photos, but I really like the processing of this one.
Hi Judy, this is a wonderful winter scene. I took your second post duplicated it and then flipped the top layer vertically and used an inverse layer mask to reveal the bottom with a hint of the wall. I felt the OP need more of an anchor, hope you don't mind :) After seeing it I might take a tiny sliver off the bottom.
That was nicely done, Denise. If I didn't know there was a wall there, I'd read it as snow.
Nice base images lead to nice finished products, I think this would make a lovely card (xmas), frame 11 work for me..you've been a machine lately Judy with all these lovely images....hard to think about snow, today was almost 70f here, if not a record close to it.
Love the X-mas card mood and Lady D's repost. My thinking was as above....

I like all versions. The processing is just lovely--creating a soft, winter scene. I do think my favorite is Denise's. Lovely work.

I finally got the repost done. I just painted in the light color on there and added a little texture to it. Then I cropped some off the bottom as there was too much of the "vignette". I still prefer the one with the wall showing, but I'll go with the flow. :w3
I like your latest version as well as the one with the wall showing. I encourage you to go with the one you prefer.:S3:
