Nice composition, Mitch. Interesting effect for sure... I like refection and color tones.
Great colors, and nice processing. I wish the beak were just a tad sharper but they might be the effect of the filtering.

I really like the pose of the bird--stalking! It has the feel of action. The processing, especially on the bird, is really nice. I like the darkness. I wonder about masking out some of the processing in the upper half of the bg--to eliminate the blotchy areas, which I find a bit distracting. Nice work!
Mitch, I think Anita makes a good suggestion regarding the background. Nice pose, does it need a slight rotation? The colors are fun!
