Dark, dreary and rainy day, but the color that remained on the trees was vivid. I fooled around with the "Feel Lucky" tab in NIK's Simplify and I came up with a recipe that I liked with some tweaking. Comments welcome................

love the comp...the water leads the eye. colorful leaves at the bottom contrast with the dreamy blurs at the top......all work together!
This is great, Jay. I like the composition, and your choice of shutter speed gave a great blur to the water. It's not over-saturated, either. The colors look just right. I was really taken by the farthest background colors against the bare trees in the upper right. There's a great sense of depth, too. The foreground rocks being wet from the rain makes the look extra special.
Jay, I like the Simplify effect and especially like the farthest trees and the interlacing of dark branches. It's a beautiful, peaceful scene:S3:
Jay, I love this new look of yours! The scene is wonderful and so is the treatment. I might tone down the center area of the water just a hint if it were mine. I really like the top half of the image with the tree branches!
Denise, Thanks. The water is just a tad bright. I like retained detail of this custom preset, vivid colors appear to be dabbed in with a few areas almost "solarized", if that's a word. :). The affect on trees is what I like the most. It's heavy on edge detail....
I love the scene and the filtering is perfect, I really like your preset. I will try simplify on some of my images from the Smokies and hope I get lucky!
Beautiful! The rainy day was a plus for this image. Perfect composition, lots of interest, contrast between rocks and trees and water. The processing worked excellently. Only thing I'd do is tone down that bit of water.
Thanks for the feedback everyone...........as suggested, here is a version with a bit less brightness in the water.
Jay, the repost looks good but I'd prefer it a little brighter. I think the water lost some of its "depth" when it became more gray.
Cheryl, thanks.......I'll take a shot at a "tweener". I overlayed the original so I'm guessing here.........
Last one looks great to me!
A winner. Absolutely.
The last version is stunning. I'd print it and hang it on my wall.
Jay, regardless of which one I look at, the bottom line is, it's a lovely scene, would make a great print on canvas, the trees in the top 1/3, the rocks and the river all are lovely. The lightening of the water really made a difference...very well done
Jay, the last one is perfect! And gorgeous:S3:
Dreamy autumn scene. Great!
Hi Jay, I love the last repost...nice colors and comp too!
Very nice! Great colors, nice attention to the comp. (including the corners), the stream leads the eye nicely and deep into the image, and allows the viewer to wander through it. Nicely done!
